To delete an old record, search the database (See How to search) and once the record is selected, select the menu item ArchiveèDeleteèCurrent Record. Both record and the corresponding document is deleted. If version information exist, this is deleted as well.

To insert a new record select ArchiveèInsertè File, Browse to find the file and hit OK. In most cases you will have to specify where to save the file on disk. This is done in a secondary browse. Back in Orbit Front, you can specify the initial indexing information, and save your new record to the database by selecting SearchèSave Record.

Paper documents can be inserted by using an attached Twain or Isis compliant scanner. To use a TWAIN or ISIS compliant scanner in Orbit Front, you first have to install the driver on your PC. Please refer to the documentation that came with the scanner. Next it is recommended to test the driver installation on the program that came with the scanner. Back in Orbit Front, you then have to select the scanner. This is done by clicking the menu item ArchiveèInsertèTwainèSelect Scanner for TWAIN scanners or by clicking the menu item ArchiveèInsertèIsisèSelect Scanner for ISIS scanners. This will bring up a small dialog with a list of all installed TWAIN/ISIS scanners. Select your scanner from that list and hit OK. This procedure must be performed each time you want to switch from using one scanner to another.

To scan a document with your TWAIN scanner select the menu item ArchiveèInsertèTwainèScan. To scan a document with your ISIS scanner select the menu item ArchiveèInsertèIsisèScan. For both types of scanners this will bring up the native scanner control panel. How to operate this panel and the look of this panel varies from scanner to scanner. Different scanners will also have different features. Please refer to the documentation that came with the scanner.

Creating of new documents can be done from within Orbit Front by using the menu ArchiveèCreate and choosing one of the supported document types. At this point the Microsoft Office is supported as well as plain text documents. Orbit Front automatically detects if the programs are installed and only enables the menu items if the program in question is present.

When this feature is activated an empty document of the specified type is created and inserted into the document. At this time you can specify the various fields and save it to the database. You can also invoke an external tool (i.e. the Office program in question) to edit the document. This enables you to directly create and edit new documents inside the archive, without leaving the Orbit Front program window.
